Course Overview

The Art and Science of PCB Design with Autodesk Eagle

Printed circuit board (PCB) design is one of the most important skills in electronics development. Whether you are building hobby projects, prototypes, or commercial products, knowing how to design PCBs is a fundamental part of electronics engineering.

This course introduces PCB design using Autodesk Eagle, one of the most widely used tools in the open-source hardware ecosystem. Many popular electronics platforms such as Arduino boards and numerous open hardware designs are created using Eagle.

The course is designed specifically for beginners who have never designed a PCB before. It starts from the basics and walks through the complete workflow of creating a circuit schematic, converting it into a PCB layout, and preparing the design for manufacturing.

By the end of the course, you will understand how to design your own circuit boards and prepare them for fabrication.

What you will learn

  1. Understanding the PCB design workflow
  2. Creating electronic schematics in Autodesk Eagle
  3. Converting schematics into PCB layouts
  4. Placing components and routing PCB tracks
  5. Designing single-sided and double-sided PCBs
  6. Preparing files required for PCB manufacturing

Who this course is for

  1. Electronics hobbyists who want to design their own PCBs
  2. Students studying electronics or embedded systems
  3. Beginners starting their journey in electronics design
  4. Developers building hardware prototypes or personal projects

Course level

This is a beginner-level course and assumes no prior experience in PCB design.

What this course does not cover

  1. Advanced PCB design techniques
